Privacy policy

smallbizsim ("we", "us") uses information to provide calculators, invoices, reports and requested emails, support users and prevent misuse. This policy explains the main uses and your choices. We do not sell your personal information.

Accounts, purchases and support

To manage accounts and purchases, we use your email address, a protected password record, account activity and payment references, amounts and status. Our payment provider handles card details; we do not store full card numbers. Support messages, request records and activity logs help us resolve problems and detect misuse. Please do not send passwords or full card details to support.

Simulations and reports

To create reports you can return to, we save submitted assumptions, results and any business or location details, including for free reports. Account reports are linked to their owner. Location services process address searches and selected locations; AI services process report assumptions, results and location context to explain the calculations and research the business location. Treat report links as private: anyone with a link can see the saved business address, including on account-owned reports. Unlocked location analysis and its sources may also identify the premises.

Australian pay calculator

Your device keeps your current draft so you can return to it. For support, usage understanding and misuse checks, online edits, including incomplete drafts, are also sent to us, and online downloads attempt to save a calculation snapshot. This applies to guests and signed-in users. Records include the report name, income, deductions, superannuation, tax and exemption settings, insurance assumptions, results and financial year. Signed-in activity may be linked to your account.

Calculations and PDFs run on your device; server recording is not required for a PDF download. Offline edits and downloads are not queued for later upload. Server records do not provide dashboard history or draft restoration. Pay-calculator content is not sent to analytics, advertising or session-replay providers.

Invoices

A new draft stays on your device. Download also attempts to save an invoice snapshot for guests and accounts. Account saving lets you reopen, edit and email invoices; guest snapshots support troubleshooting, usage understanding and misuse checks. Snapshots include seller/customer details, tax and payment information, line items, amounts, notes, terms and logos. PDFs are generated locally, even if server saving fails.

Open account invoices autosave edits, retaining saved versions. Optional seller defaults let you reuse details across devices and can be cleared. Guests have no saved-invoice retrieval or account defaults, and their snapshots are not linked to an account later. We retain invoice data, not downloaded PDF files, and do not use invoice content as advertising parameters.

Signed-in users can separately save private payment records, including amounts, dates, methods, references, per-payment notes and overall payment notes. These records are for dashboard tracking and are not included in invoice PDFs, printouts or customer emails. We retain the current payment records with the saved invoice when it is hidden from the dashboard; correcting or removing a payment replaces the current record rather than creating a payment audit history. Payment records and notes are not used in advertising or analytics.

Emails you request

To send documents, we save the relevant information and pass it and your chosen recipient address to an email provider. Signed-in invoice emails include a PDF; pay-summary emails contain the summary in the body, with no PDF attachment. Report-sharing emails contain a link. Replies use your account email for pay summaries, or the optional bill-from address for invoices. We do not add email tracking.

Sending-account, sender/reply and recipient details, dates and outcomes help us investigate delivery problems and misuse. Authorised administrators can review service records for support and security. Check recipients and only provide other people's information when you are entitled to do so.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Browser storage and necessary cookies support sessions, drafts, privacy choices and security. Essential fault monitoring uses sanitised operational labels, not document contents, monitoring cookies or persistent user identifiers.

With your permission, analytics help improve the site through page usage, clicks, scrolling, heatmaps and session replay. Advertising measurement attributes visits, simulations and purchases to ads. Data may include browser/device and network information, campaign/click identifiers and purchase references, values and currency. Limited source/campaign information may also be saved with reports after acceptance. Consented guide measurement links public guide topics and country/city labels to simulator-link clicks, first simulator interactions and completed reports. These labels describe the guide, not your exact location or financial inputs. This information is not necessarily anonymous.

Before you choose, optional measurement storage is disabled, but limited cookieless page-measurement and consent-status signals may be sent. Session replay and additional advertising tags remain disabled until you accept. Essential only stops optional page-view events, not essential processing or consent-status signals. Advertising personalisation, remarketing, advanced matching and customer-list targeting remain disabled in our integrations.

Traffic and advertising event payloads exclude tool inputs, invoice/report contents, private report links, exact addresses, emails and card/billing details. Publisher ads, where enabled, appear only on eligible public tools, not invoices, pay calculators, simulations or private/account pages, and require any separate applicable consent.

You can use the tools without accepting optional measurement. Reject it or change your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawal stops future optional collection; it does not erase previously collected records.

Providers and overseas handling

Providers process information relevant to hosting/storage, email, payments, security, location data, AI and optional measurement. We also disclose information to recipients you choose or where required or authorised by law. Providers may process information outside Australia; destinations depend on the feature and provider. Security, retention and deletion

Authentication, access controls and monitoring help protect information, but no online service is completely secure. Keep your account, device and report links secure.

Saved data supports continued access, support and misuse investigations. Invoice snapshots, pay-calculator records, account activity and sending records have no automatic expiry and may remain indefinitely unless separately removed. Removing an invoice from your dashboard hides it; it does not erase saved versions or sending records. Resetting a tool or clearing browser storage does not delete server records.

You can request deletion. We consider requests under applicable law, including permitted retention purposes and legal obligations, and explain any limitations. This policy does not authorise retention contrary to law. Copies downloaded or received by email remain under your or the recipient's control.

Email contact@smallbizsim.com to request access, correction or deletion, or make a privacy complaint. We may verify your identity before responding. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, obtain portable data or withdraw consent.

If dissatisfied with our response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or your local regulator. We publish policy updates here; an update is not consent to new optional processing.
